We have long been advocates of making the most of outdoor spaces, no matter how small. Even the most modest of city balconies can be transformed into an urban oasis with a thoughtful use of plants, string lights, and compact garden seating. And it doesn't have to cost the earth.

The new House Beautiful outdoor collection was designed with affordable garden transformations in mind. Available exclusively at Homebase, the range spans our favourite seeds and bulbs, outdoor lights, colourful pots and planters, and essential gardening tools – this is the ultimate garden shopping list created by the editors.

The collection is available online and in selected Homebase stores now.

Our extensive range of pots and planters (53 in total,) cover all eventualities. Liven up a small terrace with our Teal Balcony Pot for displaying trailing plants, line a large patio with our XL two-tone ceramic pots with colourful glazed rims, or add some bold pops of colour with our recycled plastic Beehive Pots.

If you have a garden room or conservatory, our indoor plant pots come in all shapes and sizes, from seagrass baskets for your taller indoor trees, to hanging planters (one of our favourites,) and textured emerald green glazed pots perfect for succulents.

In our book, a garden isn't complete without outdoor lights to illuminate your space post-BBQ. Our favourites are string lights that can be fixed to walls, draped around trees, or wrapped around a balcony.

Our collection includes premium black pendant string lights that casts a warming white glow, the colourful festoon string lights in alternating shades of orange and teal, and if you prefer individual lamps, our solar powered hanging light bulbs can be used table top or hung from branches.

One for the budding gardeners, our range of tools includes flower and fruit snips, secateurs, hand forks and trowels, as well as matching gardening gloves – all in the signature House Beautiful orange and teal colours.

The collection forgoes plastic components, and instead is made from hardwood and stainless steel. Our small hand trowels and hand forks can be hung up on hooks to keep your shed tidy.

Our collection of seeds and bulbs were chosen to suit and enhance every type of garden.

For budding gardeners, make life easier with our premixed collections – seeds for an aromatic garden, herbal tea seeds, container flowers, and windowsill vegetables to name a few. Or simply pick your favourites to introduce colour and scent, and even encourage pollinators into your garden (look out for the RHS Plants for Pollinators sticker – the seal of approval from the RHS experts.)

We've also covered those with – or just starting – a vegetable patch, including broad beans, beetroot, courgettes, sweet peas, radishes, carrots and spinach.
